FILMMAKER
Manya Glassman received her MFA in Film Directing from NYU Tisch School of Arts and her BA in Humanities, Film and French from Providence College. She uses visual imagery to explore love, family, mortality, and what makes us human. At NYU she produced over 11 short films, directed/wrote six of her own, and produced a feature with a distribution deal with a prominent French company. Manya served as Spike Lee’s Teaching Assistant for two years and assisted him on a Netflix special. She has been the recipient of awards, such as the Spike Lee / Sandra Ifraimova Film Production Grant, a Willard T.C. Johnson Fellowship, a Rolly Bester Scholarship, and Antonio Cirino Memorial Scholarship from the Rhode Island Foundation. Spike Lee recently signed on as Executive Producer for Manya’s film, How I Learned to Die.
